Last post of 2009?

I think this might be it… I have a few things to blog about, but I’ll try and keep it short 🙂

First up, I can reveal the last secret knitting project.

Gail (AKA Nightsong) Shawl

Yarn: Malabrigo Sock – Purple
Pattern: Gail (AKA Nightsongs) by MaweLucky/Jane Araujo
Needles: 4mm Knit Picks Harmony
Modifications/Notes: I followed the notes from 2sticks on Ravelry. The original pattern is great, but I decided to dive straight into the extra notes from 2sticks as I was a little worried about time etc. I did 7 repeats of the pattern and then used the lace cast off and I had about a yard of yarn left… I was panic’ing right until the last stitch was cast off! Will definitely make another one at some point.

Next up is the second hot water bottle cozy I mentioned in an earlier post.

Hot Water Bottle Cozy 2

Yarn: Debbie Bliss Maya in Green
Pattern: ISBN Cabled Hot Water Bottle Cozy by Yarnagogo
Needles:4.5mm Knit Picks Harmony
Modifications/Notes: I followed the pattern as is and it fits perfectly!

And next up

Burberry Inspired Cowl

Yarn: Angel Yarns Seraph x 2 in Black
Pattern: Burberry Inspired Cowl by Julianne Smith
Needles: 6mm Knit Picks Harmony
Modifications/Notes: I followed the pattern as is and did 4 repeats of the pattern before grafting the ends together. I still have a little of the yarn left.

I love this cowl and it goes so well with all of my coats and jackets… The yarn is snuggly and warm and I’m glad I finally found a pattern that works with it.

Last but not least, we have a plain pair of socks made for Ollie as a Christmas pressie… A bit belated, but he’s happy with them!

Ollie's Christmas Socks

Yarn: Rellana Flotte Socke 4 fach in 3052 (Browns)
Pattern: A mishmash of everything I know about socks
Needles: 2.5mm Knit Picks Harmony
Mods/Notes: Like I said, this is just an amalgamation of lots of different sock techniques. I did make these toe up using Judy’s Magic Cast-On and the heels were short row. Bind off was the lace one to make sure it’s nice and stretchy.

We’ve also tried the Regia Latex prints on the bottom of these to see how long they will last. All of Ollie’s other socks now have holes in the balls of the feet. If this works, he’ll definitely get more socks!

That’s the last of the knitted goodies for this year and my total yards/meters knit is:

12279.5yds/11228m

That’s way more than I expected. 😀 I’m hoping it’s more in 2010 as I still have a HUGE stash to get through!

Lastly, would you believe, there has actually been some spinning at Chez Mistry.

Pink Delight

Fibre: Australian Merino in Pink
Type: 2 ply DK (12wpi)
Length: 186yds/170m
Weight: 73g

First bit of spinning in so many months and I have to say I’m glad I’m back to it. I have about 8oz of the merino that I picked up from our local hobby & crafts store. I’m hoping to get a whole sweaters worth of DK so that I can make Audrey in Unst, but we’ll see. This is the first time I’m actually spinnning with a project in mind and it’s a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Anyway, enough rambling. Before I sign off for 2009, I just want to say thank you to all of you, my readers. This year has been made all the better for your frequenting, reading, commenting and just browsing my blog. I appreciate all the support and I hope you’ll continue with me on my journey in the future.

Wishing you all a very happy 2010!! xx
