Azure Skies, Babies and Dishcloths

A little while ago I was approached by some lovely ladies asking if I would like to contribute to a new crochet magazine that was about to be published in the UK. I thought about it for a while and sketched some design ideas and submitted them. The one they liked the most was a lacey shawl/stole idea and off I went with the designing and making stage. πŸ™‚

The pattern I’m wittering on about is Azure Skies published in Inside Crochet.

I’m still waiting for my contributor copy to arrive, so I’ve yet to see the published piccies.. πŸ™‚

Here is one of my own:

Azure Skies

Yarn: Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Lace Weight in Blue x 4
Pattern: My own published in Inside Crochet
Hook 3mm

I forgot to take a modelled picture before sending it in, but hopefully I’ll get to take one when I get it back.

I hope people enjoy making it as much as I did.

On the babies front (not me), I finished up a couple of small projects:

Handspun BSJAbagail

The first is a Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman made from some of my own handspun and the second is the Abagail Sweater by Kay Squared. There will be a few other baby items that pop up on the blog every now and again. πŸ™‚

Another a house note, I’ve been making dishcloths and to be honest, even though they’re very quick and useful (and I said I would never make any), they’re really not all that to blog about:

DishclothDishcloths

The first is the Chinese Waves Dishcloth pattern by Margaret K. K. Radcliffe and the second is a crochet pattern which I saw when visiting a friend and decided I liked. Unfortunately, I decided against paying for the pattern and decided to wing it myself. I like the results and will make more of these and the chinese waves. πŸ™‚

I’ve also been on a startitis mission and have joined the SMSKAL on twitter and have got to the 3rd clue, but really need to get a move on!!

SMSKAL Aurantium Shawl

Oh and we’re painting our garden furniture in some pretty cool colours. Piccies when I’ve finished!

Have a good weekend peeps!! πŸ˜€

  1. Wow! Congratulations on the beautiful design and of course on being published! I’m always on the lookout for great crochet patterns and I think you’ve just convinced me to pick up a copy of Inside Crochet!

  2. I will buy this magazine just because your pattern is in it. πŸ˜€ Then look wistfully at the pattern because I can’t make it. But yay for you!!

  3. Wow, I bought the magazine yesterday and instantly decided I wanted to make this. It’s only now as I’ve looked it up on Ravelry I realised it was your pattern. Congratulations it is beautiful.
