Warning! This is a very picture heavy post
I’ve been to post about “The Holiday” ever since we got back, but this last week and a bit has been absolutely manic!
Now that things are kind of returning to normal, I have a few minutes to fill you all in. 🙂
We went away for a week to the north of Holland to a lovely place calle Wervershoof. There is a number of what I call ‘river-villages’ and we stayed in a house in one of those. The place was actually very home-ly. It looked out onto a canal/river:
We even had canoes to play around in! 😀
The boys definitely took advantage of that:
As did little Flynn
This was his first time in the water (apart from baths)! We’re so proud of him 🙂
There was some tug-of-war
and some football
and in Ollie’s case, no football!
There was no paddling for me, unfortuantely! It was too cold.. and the beach was actually shell not sand.
We went into a few of the villages line Hoorn and Enkhuizen, there were a couple of markets that we wandered around, but with Flynn it was really difficult. He’s still a puupy and this was his first time away from home. Everything was exciting, everything was new and everything needed to be investigated! So we only spent a few hours at a time out and about.
Mind you, in that time, I did find a fantastic, fantastic yarn shop!
It’s Schouten Handwerken owned by a Father and Son team. Wilbert (the son) was absolutely brilliant and really helpful. He did say that even though they don’t have an on-line shop, if you email them, they will try their hardest to help. 😀 Kai has found a fantastic place to order from!
I bought some Araucania
Some Jitterbug (which I have never ever tried before)
And some Noro Sock Yarn
It’s actually quite rough, so I may use it for something other than socks, we’ll see.
And finally a shot of the birdhouse in the garden:
There was some knitting on holiday, honest! I finished a sleeve on the Urban Cardi and I finished a couple of pairs of socks.
Yarn: Knitwitches Sock Yarn 100% BFL in Jade Night (I LOVE THIS YARN!)
Pattern: Loksins from Too Much Wool
Needles 2.5mm Addi Turbos using magic loop
Plain socks for Ollie:

And finally, a gratuitous piccie of some ducks:
Thank you to everyone for all of their lovely comments on my patterns. They’re very much appreciated! 😀
